Greg Giles is a highly respected former Senior Sergeant with the Queensland Police Service and a senior advisor to iSafe Connect, bringing over 35 years of operational, strategic, and specialist policing experience to the organisation. With extensive frontline and specialist roles including Mental Health Co-response, Public Safety Response, and Dignitary Protection, Greg brings unmatched insight into crisis intervention, trauma response, and effective engagement with vulnerable communities. His commitment to improving outcomes for people experiencing mental illness, disability, and distress has shaped policing practices across the state. Greg was the founder and driving force behind the implementation of the Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program in Queensland, pioneering a specialised model of training designed to equip frontline police with the tools to respond safely, ethically, and effectively to individuals in crisis. His work laid the foundation for a statewide shift toward more inclusive and informed policing. In 2010, Greg was awarded a prestigious Winston Churchill Fellowship, allowing him to research international best practices in mental health and policing. He completed the Mental Health Critical Incident Train-the-Trainer Program with the Memphis Police Department in the United States and brought that expertise back to Australia to embed systemic improvements in frontline response.
